In January 2005, Tamiya reissued the original 1984 Hornet
pretty much completely as it originally was way back when the Apple Mac was
freshly launched, Microsoft Windows 1.0 didn't exist and people were getting
excited about the brand new talking Austin Maestro from BL!
Since then we've had the Grasshopper, Lunchbox, Top Force, Frog, Thundershot and
more! We're adding items to this list as they become available. We
are spliting a number of kits to fulfil these parts, but can only split so many
so parts will be sourced from our suppliers (usually a 6 week delay) once we run
out. Where a part proves popular (e.g. Lunchbox battery trays, Hornet D
Sprue etc etc) we will endeavour to keep good stocks.
Notes on specific cars:
THUNDERSHOT: Please note that the Thundershot manual is a bit of a mess - the part numbers in
the diagrams are the original part numbers but the Japanese have changed the
numbers as the parts have been slightly revised. We are showing the number
you need to order in the left hand column and in brackets the number shown in
the manual. Yes it's confusing.
FROG: The re-issued Frog has completely different drive shafts,
couplings, shock absorbers and a few other minor changes. Part numbers in
the manual are accurate.
MANTA RAY: Manta Ray parts have always been available and
are in our main parts lists. The body for the re-issue model is the only
part that we cannot usually supply.
TOP FORCE: Due to the number of expensive "never breaking" parts
in this kit, and shortness of supply of the kit itself, it's not viable to split
kits down. We can order all the parts for you with approx 6 weeks lead
time. We will not be able to advise a price in advance - the price
will be whatever the UK importer advises us at time of invoice.
As the reissue cars have become part of the standard range, we have now at
last incorporated the parts for these cars into our standard lists.
