Skill required is similar to basic mechanical work - if you can change plugs and brake pads on a real car, you should be able to build a kit.

These kits are kept in stock at our Stevenage store and can be examined if you wish to visit.

These models are not usually imported to the UK, in fact the aircraft we understand do not usually even come into mainland Europe! Don't worry though - these are not copies or grey imports with questionable origins - each item is imported especially for Time Tunnel direct from Tamiya's warehouse in Japan or Kyosho's warehouse in France.  The kits are untouched and pristine!

Tamiya's aviation series of flying models have been designed for ease of assembly and outstanding flight performance.  The model has been made incorporating state of the art aerodynamics and aeronautics to provide the very best for the scale aviation modeller.
 
In order to obtain excellent manoeuvrability during thermal soaring and slope soaring, the Alt Stream is controlled by it's rudder, elevator and ailerons. These vital control surfaces are connected to the servos via cables, enabling crisp response to the transmitter inputs without play or delay.

FOR FLIGHT IN THE UK THIS ITEM IDEALLY REQUIRES A 4 CHANNEL, 4 SERVO RADIO ON 35MHZ AIRCRAFT BAND.  Or a 2 channel with mixers, or possibly a 6 channel.  There are several options, all explained in the comprehensive manual - we can supply whatever you need to special order, but we recommend that you purchase the plane and study the instructions first to decide how you're going to set it up.

Notes from the spanner man: I've looked very closely at this kit - it's a really high grade model item - the wings are made from wood formers with a plastic covering, the fuselage is a light but strong looking plastic moulding and the quality/finish far exceeds most other aircraft I've seen before.  Looks to be a lot more substantial than the foam wing RTF models, for example.  Instructions are comprehensive, but there is far more to assembling this kit than first meets the eye - you need to spend some time fine tuning positioning of weights etc to get it perfectly balanced, and there is some gluing involved (i.e. proper modelling - not just screw A to B).  A good many evenings project.

The SEADOLPHIN was designed by Mr. Tadashi Kato, a former All Japan Radio Controlled Yacht Champion. Various new devices have been incorporated into this design permitting sailing performances that surpass the limits imposed by its size. The design references the Whitbread racers that actively participate in the round-the-world races.

The SEADOLPHIN with the length of 770mm makes a beautiful display model as well.

This scale model is of excellent quality, and with it's unique design, you can enjoy the real taste of radio controlled yacht sailing. This new size also offers you convenience when you carry or store the yacht. The length of 770mm, puts this yacht is in a new size category, still it is equal to one size larger model yacht in performance. The reason is that there are many ingenious innovations such as the sail control system. For example, the booms of the jib and main sail are connected to the mast through rings. and the booms are kept aligned according to any sailing condition. Furthermore the best position of the sails and the boom pivots are set so that the booms will keep the best sail curves in both fully closed or open position causing every point of the sails to effectively push the yacht forward. Every point of the craft is so devised to turn the wind energy to the utmost in running efficiency. An innovative model yacht in many respects, the SEADOLPHIN, will give you many happy hours of sailing enjoyment.

Cut, sewn and reinforced sails of tetoron (polyester fiber) spun cloth, strong and pliant.
The corners of the sails are reinforced with repair tape used for the full size yachts, allowing the sails will make an ideal swollen curve without wrinkles under any circumstances.
By arranging the sheet holders on the boom and on the full as close as possible tacking performance is upgraded.
Two spreaders give the lighter mast more strength and realize low center of gravity, as a result the boat has less heeling tendency.
The main mast extends to the bottom to make the whole structure more solid.
Lifelike accessories such as helm and pulpit, and a wood stand for the yacht are included.
The waterproof structure shields the radio compartment completely.
The ABS blown monocoque body and an injection formed bow cover produces good heeling and high speed characteristics.

This model is OK with regular servos - sail servo not required, optional for stronger winds/quicker sail response.

She is easy to sail and easy to prepare for the water. The hull is a one-piece white ABS moulding that needs no painting or maintenance. The two piece extruded aluminium mast dismantles for easy transportation and the booms are also made of aluminium. The Fairwind can be sailed with just one standard servo, or you can add a sail winch servo for increased control. The main sail and jib have battens to maintain their shape, just like the sails on full-size yachts. Based on America's Cup Class racing yachts, the Seawind looks just as good as it sails. Manufactured from hardened ABS and aluminium with tear-resistant main and jib sails, the Seawind builds into a little work of art. The one-piece ABS hull is designed for minimum drag and optimum water penetration. With a model as big as this, transportation could have been a problem. However, Kyosho have designed the Seawind so that the mast, rudder, keel and keel weight can all be easily removed for travelling. The keel weight is covered by a rubber boot for improved appearance and safety to water life. A boat stand is supplied with the kit so that the Seawind can be displayed when not in use as well as offering a stable support during building or when at the boating lake.
