Tamiya Help and Advice
Tamiya's Quickdrive cars are now renamed Carson Fast Drive, and above these the XB Pro range has taken the Ready to Run mantle to provide a great, fast "kit quality" car for those who want a run-from-the-box experience - these cars being the same as a kit car (i.e. high performance) but made in the factory.

Each car includes a fully sprayed and stickered impact resistant body shell with long travel front and rear suspension.  Tamiya cars are renowned for having the most highly detailed bodies of any range - the XBs are no exception!

The control system is the "Wheel & Trigger" type with proportional steering and speed (the more you turn the more it turns...).  Steering trim is adjustable on the controller.  

Speed is approx 35Kmh (but upgradeable) on XB Pro models.
Speed is approx 20Kmh on Carson FD models.

All cars include: Radio, 7.2v NiCad battery (9.6v on Carson FD models) and Charger. The cars are designed so that you can remove the wheels and body easily and fit replacements if required.  Replacement wheels and bodies are available to special order from www.TamiyaParts.co.uk

Formerly called Tamiya Quickdrive

Carson is Tamiya Germany, and they have taken over the Quickdrive range, improved the electrics and speed of each model and relaunched as Fast Drive.  These cars are ready made and ideal for beginners.

 About the Open Interface Tom's SC430
Toyota introduced the Lexus SC430 as the successor to the Supra for the 2006 Super GT. Driven by the duo of Juichi Wakisaka and Andre Lotterer, the team's best finish thus far was winning Round 4 at the Sepang Circuit in Malaysia. With two rounds left to go, Wakisaka and Lotterer are tied for first place in the Driver's Ranking with Team Kunimistu, and currently hold the top spot in the Team Ranking above NISMO. While the final victory is still up for grabs, Toyota Team Toms strong and consistent performance throughout the 2006 season has almost certainly guaranteed them a podium finish.
 
About the Mobil 1 SC
Toyota introduced the Lexus SC430 as a successor to the Supra in the 2006 Super GT. Of the four Lexus SC430 cars entered in this year's series, the Team LeMans Mobil 1 SC enjoys the direct sponsorship of Toyota Motor Corporation. Piloted by the team of Akira Iida and Tatsuya Kataoka, the No.6 Mobil 1 SC scored 2nd place in Super GT Round 3 Fuji Speedway. With more than half of the season left to go, the Mobil 1 SC is expected to put in even more great performances on the track.

 The XB Sport models utilize a special version of the TT-01 Type-E chassis, streamlined for quick and efficient maintenance.  Parts are interchangable with the kit TT01E cars and most TT01/TT01E upgrades can be fitted straight to the models. 

VW Golf: The 5th generation Golf GTI was released in 2003 and continued the long tradition of Volkswagen "hot hatchbacks." It was powered by a turbocharged 2 litre inline 4 cylinder engine with 200hp output and was available with either a 6-speed manual or a quick shifting 6-speed DSG gearbox.

Mitsubishi Lancer: The aggressively-styled Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X was unveiled in 2007 and was equipped with advanced features such as a Twin Clutch SST six-speed sequential transmission. It was powered by a turbocharged 2 liter 4-cylinder DOHC engine producing 280hp and 43kg/m of torque.

         Tamiya has had a long history of releasing R/C models of real-life World Rally Championship cars, and this year sees the announcement of the new Subaru Impreza WRC Monte Carlo '07 as an Expert Built R/C car on the popular TT-01 chassis.

    About the Subaru Impreza WRC 2007
    The latest iteration of Subaru's Impreza WRC rally car is outwardly not too different than the 2006 model. The main improvements are underneath the hood, with improved suspension geometry, a new turbo/intercooler, better weight distribution, and new differential settings for greater traction. There is also a new front bumper design to go along with the new intercooler. All of these enhancements aim to make the Impreza WRC 2007 a more responsive race car, and drivers Chris Atkinson and Peter Solberg have already attained positive results with 4th and 6th place finished respectively at Round 1 Monte Carlo.

    About the XB Wild Willy 2
    Since its release in 1999, Wild Willy 2 has been a Tamiya favourite thanks to its unique running and design. The Wild Willy 2 chassis features a gear box neatly secured in a monocoque frame. Side support bars have been added to the frame to heighten the overall rigidity and enhance Willy's stunt vehicle realism. Running battery is positioned lengthwise toward the rear of the chassis, providing the ideal balance for outstanding wheelie action. Steering servo is mounted centrally on the chassis and holds two steering tie rods of equal length, which control left/right steering, ensuring reliable handling. Four wheel independent suspension and oversize tires enable high traction and stability.

    		 Another one of Tamiya's classic creations, the R/C Lunch Box (1st released, 1987) was loved for its eye catching appearance as much as for its R/C performance, and the Pumpkin (same car but with a truck body rather than a mini Van) provides it's ideal stable mate. The boxy body raised up over monster truck wheels ensure that this R/C van & truck will get attention anywhere you choose to drive it.

    This is a great favourite with kids - the car pulls wheelies with very little provocation, and is suitable for driving at quite a good speed on virtually any surface.  The Lunchbox & Pumpkin really shows their best performance on cut grass and mud tracks though.

    This all terrain 2WD XB Ready-to-Run Rising Fighter inherits all its great qualities and excellent performance from its predecessors The Hornet (Item 58336) and The Grasshopper (Item 58346) and also uses a similar body of that to other fighter series R/C cars. All you need is eight R6/AA/UM3 batteries for your transmitter and then you are ready to go!

The 540 motor coupled with a direct drive gearbox means a good turn of speed for both the beginner and more advanced driver - yet simple construction means ease of assembly and repair.  An excellent first time buy with potential for upgrade later on.

    Tamiya suggest using their LF (LIPO/LIFO) battery with this product.  For reasons of product specification and extremely high price, this item is NOT available for sale in the UK.  However, we have seen the vehicle running very well with a STANDARD 3000 MAH NIMH 7.2V STICK PACK (e.g. any brand of 3000 to 4500 NIMH Pack will be ideal for it) - there is no need to purchase special chargers or batteries for it.

    However the extreme current drawn by the system does require that a DEANS connector is used on the battery.  For this reason, we are including with the Super Levant a pair of these connectors for you to fit to your choice of battery and charger.
